19.05.1931 - 17.08.1991
Dieter Koenigs engines ran around the globe. They were used by motorboat and motorcycle races and as well as production engines for sport boats and ultralight aircrafts.
Dieter Koenig was World and European champion in speedboat classes. For its outstanding successes he was honoured with the silver laurel leaf - the highest German sport honor.
After the Second World War it succeeded to Dieter Koenig to save the family business from the ruin thanks to the American Ralph Donald. Donald found a backer in the USA, who gave credits.
Koenig cooperated later with the company Volvo. Gradually its high-quality engines were sold world-wide. As consequence of the high dollar rate in the 80's the technical designer had to stop production.
16.08.1991 Dieter Koenig had an accident with a test aircraft in Saarmund near Berlin and died one day later.
In order to appreciate the life's work of Dieter Koenig, a memorial stone was set up on our marina area. |
