The MRC Berlin was founded 15.03.1973 in Berlin and has world-wide members - both in Eastern European countries as well as overseas.
The reason for the association was, that after long discontent of the active race drivers against the functionaries in the DMYV and the insufficient protection of interests of the ADAC the time had come for a driver union in form of an association.
After, on functionary level, the freshbaked European champion Hans-George Krage became blocked for foreign starts, without only one questioning after the maintained reasons, the barrel overflowed and the desire for combination came.
After the establishment, in which H.-G. Krage was selected as the 1. Chairman and Hans Dieter Gessner as vice-vhaiman, Dieter Koenig as sport leader and the initial members world champion Karl Bartel, world champion Kurt Mischke, Peter Komoll, Dieter Wagner and H.-G. Moessner were present, drivers from (West-) Germany, Poland, the USA, GB, CZ and Scandinavia joined. All felt that their interests became to represent by the MRC best. Thus the MRC became the sign of the DMYV.
1978 began the MRC with the youth work in the DMYV, which did not exists until then. From this youth work three world champions followed. The MRC introduced new rules, which were necessarily for safety reasons and they are up to now. As the most important innovation the Jetty start is to be called. This still applies on 80% of international races.
In its club the MRC has at present 28 world champion titles and 36 European champion titles. Already eight members of the MRC are decorated with the silver laurel leaf, the highest honor of the Federal President.
